Meet the Doctors
Jamie Peisel, DVM
Dr. Jamie Peisel grew up on the clay courts of Savannah, GA, which led her to compete on the women’s tennis team at Northwestern University where she earned her degree in psychology. While volunteering at PAWs she used her behavioral training to rehabilitate a dachshund named Snacks with a history of biting and inappropriate urination. It was through this experience that she discovered the field of veterinary medicine and her passion for improving communication between animals, their caretakers and veterinarians. Dr. Peisel graduated from UC-Davis veterinary school where she served as president of the behavior and business associations. She has been practicing small animal medicine in sunny Southern California and recently moved back to Chicago with Romeo, a Jack Russell-terrier/Chihuahua rescue, and Willow, a Pyrenees/Malamute mix. Dr. Peisel is passionate about fostering relationships with her patients and clients and wants them to feel as if they’re family. The best patient outcomes are a result of excellent communication. She enjoys coaching clients on preventative medicine such as oral health and nutrition, relieving itchiness while addressing the underlying etiology, working up and treating internal medicine diseases and giving patients clean mouths free of pain and disease.
